Arab Council Australia is a secular non-profit independent community organisation working to bring about social justice and improve the lives of the most vulnerable people in the community. It provides a broad range of welfare services, social support and cultural activities to the community, including support services for the LGBTIQ community.

In 2016 the former City of Canterbury Council and former Bankstown City Council amalgamated to form the City of Canterbury Bankstown. The new Local Government Area (LGA) is made up of five Council Wards.
